Black and White Sketches
So recently I have been working black and white for a change. When throwing color on top of everything else, painting a landscape can get quite confusing and lead to a muddy image. So the main purpose behind this practice is to focus on the value relationships between the background, midground, and foreground. A general rule of thumb for outdoor landscapes is that as things recede off into the distance, the value of objects get lighter and the chroma decreases, or the color desaturates. This rule is also know as "Atmospheric Perspective". Overall, this exercise helped me see thing a lot more simple and also pushed me to keep everything clean.

Character Design
Kahb in deep thought, wondering who he is and where he fits in.
First shot at some character development for Kahb
Panels showing whern Kahb is rudely woken up by an unfamiliar creature and captured.
Hey guys, so I am applying to SVA and im currently building my portfolio. I want to make 6-8 pieces that focus on one character. This would include character development, design, and putting him in an environment. So far I have come up with a character and some basics for him. I am still in a brain storming process and continue to expand on the details of the story. This creatures name is Kahb(In hindi this translates to "when"). Age: 1,325 years old. Species: Katharnath. Kahb ends up in an alien world, with no recollection of who he is or where his true family is. He finds himself awake at shore and soon after is captured by a native species(thick, massive, rude, ugly, monster-like creature. I still have not decided a name for them) and enslaved to be a servant. From here he makes new connections and attempts to escape and find his origins and freedom. The antenna on his head is used to aid Kahb's senses. This antenna comes at hand at night time when one can't see. It behaves like a heat detector. Kahb comes from a species called Katharnath (which means dangerous in the Indian language Hindi). Even though these creatures seem small, cute (in a weird way), and helpless, they happen to very detrimental to the universe, for they have very advanced technology. The Katharnaths' home planet was getting over populated and running low in resource, so they had to do something to ensure their race would continue to live on. So the Katharnaths launched a project which would sling out 500,000 capsules to various planets that life already existed on. However, Kahb (the main character) is unaware of his origins. Here he wakes up in at shore, and completely confused.

New moleskine
So I got a moleskine sketchbook a couple weeks ago! yeay now im with the cool clique! This is my first drawing in the sketchbook, it was done awhile back. I drew this with an eye of a Hindu (and yes I happen to be one). If you didn't already know, in Hinduism, the cow is considered the most sacred animal. If you go to India, you won't find a single tissue of cow sold in the public markets or restaurants(just so you have an idea of how much they are worshiped). I wanted to indirectly show cruelty in this sketch. Personally, I am not offended if people eat cow. I see it the same as eating any meat. Anyways I could go on endlessly talking about this subject but thats not my purpose of this blog. This work is not in any way aimed to promote animal rights, its merely showing a vision through a Hindu's eye.

Monster Concept
So recently I have been trying to create some concept work because I hardly have any finished ones and also because it's my weakness. Here is a monster/alien concept that I created.

Welcome
I was thinking about making one of these blogs for awhile but never got around to it until today. My intent for this blog is to share my artwork with the community. On here I plan to post anything from sketches to finished illustrations/paintings to sources of inspiration. I will start my blog by posting this illustration that I did 2 days ago. Well anyways I hope you enjoy it and stay in tuned for my growth as an artist. Thank You!
